Is cam lobe damage to be expected when the cam is allowed to move? I would guess the thickness of the torrington bearing is 1/8 to 3/16". However, I was suprised to find that #2 intake and #8 exhaust lobes and lifters were also damaged. ![]() By that time I had researched the use of torrington bearings with aftermarket timing sets so I knew what allowed the cam to move back. main bearing bores should be checked for roundness, size, and alignment.
